Computer failures have various causes, so even if the symptoms are the same, the causes may be different. Failure is not common as shown below.

Fold/Expand Monitor Unlit Computer with Fan Only Rotation

On Monday, computers with no HDMI monitor screen were in stock.

As shown above, we have a computer that rotates only the fan and does not turn on the screen. (There is a pattern that the fan rotates again.) As I checked the repair records, they are regular customers who visit us almost once a year in December 2019, January 2021, and November 2022. (The computer guest visit cycle is very long, 1 to 2 years, so it is not easy to do business.)

According to the previous repair records, "This computer is prone to poor memory connection," but this time, I started the repair by speculating that the memory was not connected well.

Poor memory connection occurred twice (You came in winter when indoor air is dry.) It is also affected by dry or humid air and poor computer memory connection.

I fumbled through the computer power button and tried pressing it first because the reset button was on top, but it felt strange. The reset button didn't turn on the computer, so I turned on the computer by pressing the power button on the opposite side. When the reset button is pressed, the spring of the power button does not feel coming up, so the reset switch button is caught in the case.

The tact switch (tick switch) is copper-filled.

It's a slightly unusual and difficult symptom. Failure to find a faulty switch may result in difficulty in servicing. The cause is a switch problem, and changing computer parts (RAM, power, VGA, CPU, etc.) has the same symptoms, so you can remove the board from the case to check its normal operation and not put it in the case.

Sometimes it takes a lot of time to solve because it's a mysterious symptom like a magic trick. No matter how many thousands of computers have been fixed, there are times when I can't think. (Power button defects are common, but reset buttons are rarely defective. Because people rarely use it, it doesn't break down and I don't know if I have symptoms because I don't usually use it. If the reset button malfunctions intermittently, it may also cause a = reboot. No one repairs the reset button thinking it's defective, so if the number of cases aside is the correct answer, = I may be repaired. It's ridiculous, but there are times when reassembly solves the problem of poor connection between the part and the terminal.)

The reset switch went in and won't come out.

There is a way to repair and use the case so that the reset button can go in and come out. Simply unplug the reset switch and disconnect it to resolve the problem. I solved it by the latter method. (disconnect the reset switch from the motherboard)

Sometimes the power button gets stuck in the case.

The button has been modified to prevent it from getting stuck in the case.

A case in which the computer's power button fails to return to its original state by pressing the faulty button

When pressing the push power button on the computer case (Aiguju hatch 6 mesh) as shown below, the button is stuck on the case and there is a defect that cannot be restored. It's a sub-computer that I use for testing. If you press the power button and get caught (the power button is pressed continuously), it turns on and then turns off the computer off. So, I use it with the lid on the side of the case open. I was using it carefully by pushing it under the power button or preventing the power button from getting caught. I need a motherboard (B360M PRO4) that I was using on this test computer over the weekend, so I need to split the motherboard from the case...

Unusual computer repair (rare symptoms that come in twice a decade)

(1) I think 90% of the time during computer repair is to find the part that causes it (know-how). I don't know where it's broken.

Below is the computer repair details received last Saturday (November 19, 2022).

The front bezel of the casing is broken, and the cable connected is torn. The front USB board also broke, so I couldn't save all the front bezel, but I only connected the power button, so I repaired the main body so that only the power was turned on. The power switch wires were left alone without being wired so that the power switch cable could be removed from the terminal even if the cover was peeled off. I was shocked because I think I fell from a high position.

I only connected the broken bezel case power switch. Click on the image to lead to a repair case.

If the front USB port has fallen out of the case, you can try to secure it with a glue gun.

The front USB port is missing. (It went inside!)

The original symptom received is the ASUS logo shown below and the screen automatically turns off and automatically...

Originally, the small substrate is reduced by a dish-type fixing screw with washers on both sides, but when you plug the USB from the top, the plastic that holds the screw opens and breaks, so the substrate comes out of the case because it can't hold the substrate properly. The screw hole is open, so even if you tighten the screw again, it won't last long, so you can attach it with a glue gun. Glue guns are also vulnerable to shock, so if you push them with strong force, they can fall off. I'll have to shoot the glue gun again and fix it.

The computer with the following symptoms has been stocked. The computer turns off while the fan rotates as if it is about to turn on.

folding/stretching

a computer that appears to be on but turns off

a computer that runs for a while and then turns off

First of all, when the power button is pressed, the electricity is turned off while coming in. The test was conducted by replacing the basic checkable accessories. First, unplug the memory to see if you hear a beep code. (Intermediate picture) There is no beep sound speaker on the motherboard, so I installed it additionally. (Picture on the right)

Testing memory

The symptoms are the same when the memory/power supply is replaced.

Testing memory and power

We are testing the main board by removing it from the case. It's a system with a high-end CPU of i7-4790K. (Not now, but that computer is a high spec CPU when it's on sale.) The symptoms are the same even when tested outside. There are symptoms of the CPU fan LED turning on and off for a while.

Testing after disconnection

Below is the H81 motherboard for the test that I have. I'm not going to replace it with this board, but I'm just going to test it. First, I plugged in my Celeron CPU and checked if the motherboard was working properly. The screen is showing.

Testing motherboard for testing

And I checked the compatibility with the motherboard and installed the customer's CPU 4790K and entered the Simos setup screen. I've booted Windows 10 and checked that it's entering the desktop.

Verifying CPU support

We conducted the test by crossing the customer's graphics card and four memory DD3 4GB. I checked that it entered the desktop normally. If you just replace the motherboard, the computer can be used again.

Testing graphics card

Now, on the other hand, I put my CPU on the customer's motherboard and tested the behavior, and the symptoms are the same. The customer's motherboard is defective.

Testing the customer's motherboard

I'm checking if your power supply works properly by putting it in your computer body case with my test motherboard. I checked that the screen appears normally until Simos mode without booting to Windows.

We're testing the customer's power supply

The main board I have for the test is the H81 chipset, and I couldn't replace it because of the limited power supply of the i7 CPU. I only tested you to find defective parts. We recommended that you purchase at least B85 or higher motherboards (H87/Z87, etc. Main boards such as H87 and Z87 are not sold a lot, so they are made of expensive used products, so I think B85 chipsets will be easy.

It is not easy to recommend products that are nearly 10 years old because even expensive used boards may have expired. If you think the used board is broken again in less than a year, it's better to buy a new board, CPU, and RAM and proceed with the upgrade. So, if the B85 chipset is worth replacing and the above chipset is not in the B85 used price range, I don't want to recommend repairs.

We are going to replace the used motherboard anyway, so we put the "bad motherboard" and "normal CPU, RAM, VGA" in the motherboard box without installing it in the case.

As shown above, symptoms are similar, but the cause may be different.

If you ask me how much the repair fee is because the symptoms are like this on the phone,

It's hard to tell you about the fixed repair cost on the wire.

You need to check it yourself and find out the cause to know the repair cost.
